cave pass

welcome to the creer cave pass registration

HOLA and welcome to the CREER cave pass registration!

Though not mandatory, we encourage all divers who are planning to cave dive/conduct training during their visit in Quintana Roo, Mexico, to submit a request for a Cave Pass to easily get access to the cenotes as well as to rent/fill tanks at fill stations.

Local and visiting cave divers will be provided with guidance on how to safely enjoy cave diving and minimize environmental impact. In addition, instructors planning to conduct training during their visit will be provided with general rules of cave training as well as a list of approved training sites.

Further, your registration will provide your supporting cave instructor/IT/ITT/facility with your personal information, diving credentials as well as signed Informed Consent/Liability Release ahead of your visit reducing the amount of time you will have to spend on administrative matters.

Ask your supporting cave instructor/IT/ITT/facility to provide you with more information.

Before starting your registration, please make sure that you have the following items available for uploading:

  1. Profile Photo: a recent (no older than 6 months) headshot photo (max. size 500KB or smaller, type jpg, jpeg, png).
  2. Speleodiving Certification: a photo of your diving credential (highest level) (max. size 500KB or smaller, type jpg, jpeg, png).
  3. Nitrox Certification (if you are a certified EANx diver): a photo of your Nitrox credential (max. size 500KB or smaller, type jpg, jpeg, png).

Cave pass requests should be received at least one week (or more) before your visit to allow ample time for the processing and issuance of your Cave Pass.

WHY SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL CAVE DIVING GUIDE?

Of course, as a certified cave diver, a guide is not compulsory, but, have you ever thought about hiring a professional cave diving guide, at least for the first few days of your visit? A guide who is familiar with the cave systems and knows how to make your dives safe and efficient.

Considering that your stay is limited to a few days, there is only so much you can do during that brief time. Realistically, it would take you months if not years to tour and explore all underwater caves of the Riviera Maya…and, as you can imagine, some caves are better than others.

So, if you wish to see the best caves, it is wise to use a guide who can decide where to go that suits your interest and level of ability instead of you wasting your valuable time and air searching for the main permanent line, or the offshoot line to a particular passage or room, or going the wrong direction. A knowledgeable guides can take you straight to specific locations or areas in the cave system giving you the opportunity to see the best of what the cave system has to offer.

Another reason for seeking a guide, and which we believe should also be a major concern of all cave divers, is to help protecting the fragile underwater cave environment. Cave divers who are not familiar with the cave system can inflict needless damage to the cave environment. Diving into dead-end areas anywhere beyond the main passageways is an unnecessary risk and burden to the fragile cave. A professional guide, having the knowledge and experience of every cave system, allows you to tour and explore each cave system with minimal impact on it in addition to making your dives enjoyable, relaxing, and productive.

Be part of the initiative! Enjoy the results of your direct contribution during your next visit!

The ever-increasing number of visiting divers to our mesmerizing cenotes requires hundreds of permanent system markers as they get worn out with time and a number of cavern and cave lines to be replaced and constantly updated.

Further, we like our CREER Rescue Team to be prepared in case of an incident/accident by installing “emergency go-bags” in several locations.

There is also work in process to install signposts, presenting information of the cenotes and the fascinating hydrology, so divers can learn more about them.

In addition, we need to upkeep our website to provide updates as well as to maintain the different registration systems which not only benefit the local community but also visiting cave divers.

Moderators are volunteering their time to discuss and implement those projects, but all costs money…LOTS of money!

We need your help! Please donate today and help us raise funds to maintain a safe environment in the cenotes for everyone!
